It is an industrial equipment that produces a resistance variation to the electrical current between its phase terminals in a way that connected to a high power electrical motor it helps to get a soft starting because over current limits and increases torque rotation there of when connected to the rotor.
In Arecheta rheostats , the main body consists of sheet steel inside and outside protected with coatings and paints antiálcalis . The ARECHETA liquid rheostat has an alkaline solution as its resistance which is governed by the motor parameters and into which electrodes that have been specially designed to cope with the electrolysis effect are submerged.
The distance between the mobile and fixed electrodes, all of which are submerged in the alkaline medium, creates a variable resistance with upper and lower limits determined by the concentration of the solution.
When the application is a motor starter, upon start-up the distance between the electrodes (fixed and mobile) is at its maximum and gradually decreases until the distance is negligible, at which point the rheostat is bridged.
